Ronald Lee Skidmore

Ronald Lee Skidmore, 87, of Battle Creek, Michigan died peacefully with his family at his side on Saturday, December 18, 2021, at Bronson Battle Creek Hospital.

Ron was born November 25, 1934 in Scotts, Michigan to Lucius B. and Marion (Robinson) Skidmore. He was a 1952 graduate of Battle Creek Central High School. He earned his Bachelor's Degree and a Master's Degree from Western Michigan University. Ron proudly and honorably served in the United States Army from 1957 to 1959. Ron retired from the Kellogg Company as a Systems Analyst in 1996.

Ronald Lee Skidmore and Helen Ruth Smith were united in marriage on November 6, 1954. Surviving are Helen, his wife of 67 years; two daughters, Rhonda (Daniel) Crackel of Mason, MI, Allison (Michael) Dodds of Kansas City, MO; two grandchildren, Brian (Ashley) Crackel, Audrey Giersch; a brother, Norman (Lynette) Skidmore of Battle Creek; and several cousins, nieces, nephews and their families. Ron was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Gerald Skidmore and a sister and brother-in-law, MaryLou and Richard Devereaux.

As a young boy, Ron was active in Boy Scouts and earned his Eagle Scout Award at the age of 14 on January 4, 1949. Ron was a 69 year member and former trustee of Maple United Methodist Church. He enjoyed watching all sports, square dancing, jigsaw puzzles, traveling, and his grandchildren. He especially enjoyed playing golf with his buddy and grandson, Brian, and loved being fun "Bumpa" to his granddaughter, Audrey. Ron had a great sense of humor and enjoyed people. He will be remembered as a kind, helpful, and gentle man.

A graveside service and military honors were held for Ron's family at West Pennfield Hicks Cemetery. A service for family and friends to celebrate Ron's life will be held later.

Memorial contributions may be made to Maple United Methodist Church, 342 Capital Avenue N.E., Battle Creek, Michigan 49017.
