Rosalie Jean [Penny] Phillips of Richland, MI
Rosalie, age 82, died Tuesday morning, November 30, 2021 at her residence with her loving children at her side.
Rosalie, the daughter of Edgar R. and Virginia M. [Myers] Penny, Sr., was born in Kalamazoo, MI on March 15, 1939; was lifetime resident and a 1957 graduate of Richland Agricultural High School. She and her husband, Skip, owned and operated a truck leasing company (S&E Leasing) and a convenience store (Eastside Grocery). Rosalie will be remembered for her love of her family, the many stories of "trucking" and her daily walks along the road. She will be missed by many!
Rosalie was united in marriage to Stanley E. "Skip" Phillips, the former fire chief for the Richland Township Fire Department, in Richland on June 1, 1957 and he sadly preceded her in death on October 28, 2016. Surviving are her daughter, Penny Woolf (Clark; deceased) of Richland; her son, Jack [Cynthia] Phillips of Richland; four precious grandchildren, Amanda [Ted] Cusack, Andrew [Jacqueline] Woolf, Erika [Matt] Thomas and Casie [Scott] Tyler; eight great grandchildren, Matthew, Joshua and Samuel Cusack, Dakota Kimbrough, Lylah and Meadow Thomas and Jemma and Jameson Tyler; her brother, Larry [Edith} Penny of Bull Head City, AZ and a sister-in-law, Connie Penny of Richland. Rosalie was also preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Carl and Steven; brother, Edgar R. Penny, Jr., sister, Virginia Perse and a son-in-law, Clark E. Woolf.
The Graveside Service to celebrate Rosalie's life was held on Saturday, December 4th at the Prairie Home Cemetery, Richland with the Rev. James L. Sparks of Battle Creek, officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the charity of your choice. The Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, Richland Chapel assisted Rosalie's family with her arrangements.
