Rosemary Claypool Kimball

Rosemary Kimball, 92 of Battle Creek died at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo on Friday, April 6, 2018.

She was born August 3, 1925 in Battle Creek the daughter of Floyd and Mabel (Koch) Claypool. She grew up in Battle Creek, graduated from Lakeview High School and earned her Bachelor's Degree from Western Michigan University. She was a dedicated wife & mother. After her children were off to school she was employed at Cricket Publishing and Lewis Electric.

Rosemary Claypool was united in marriage to Thomas E. Kimball on June 8, 1947 in Battle Creek at First Congregational Church. Sadly she was preceded in death by her husband, Tom on March 21, 1985 in an auto accident. Surviving are her daughter, Julie (Dan) Hopkins of Lawton, MI, two sons, Michael (Sandy) Kimball of St. Paul, MN, Mark (Catherine) Kimball of Battle Creek; six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; 1 great great-grandchild with another coming soon; and several cousins, nieces, nephews and their families. In addition to her husband, Rosemary was also preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, Albert Claypool.

She was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church, where she previously played the organ, sang in the choir and was an active member of the congregation. Rosemary was an avid quilter, a member of the Quilting Guild and won numerous awards for her meticulous work. She enjoyed traveling, was very generous to numerous charities and had a great sense of humor. Rosemary will be remembered as loving, generous and devoted mother and friend to many. She had a wonderful sense of humor and the ability to laugh at herself. She was extremely quick witted and could joke about and bring life to any situation. She will be sorely missed, but the family knows that she is united with Christ, friends and family and is in a much better place and is hanging with the Saints. The Bibles says in 2 Corinthians 5:8 (KJV) "We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord." She I believe was ready. All the family were blessed to have had her in their lives.

Friends will be received 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday at Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care. Funeral services will be officiated by Pastor Brad Hubbard and Deacon Jack Langfeldt at St. Mark Lutheran Church 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 13, 2018. Committal and interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
