Rosemary Kay (Sherman) Woodward of Richland, MI
Rosemary, age 72, died Monday evening, January 11, 2016 at Borgess Medical Center, Kalamazoo, MI and with her loving family at her side.
Rosemary, the daughter of Rex and Mary (Lamson) Sherman was born in Kalamazoo on October 12, 1943; was a 1961 graduate of Portage High School and a lifetime area resident. Rosemary was extremely active in Richland area policies and politics having been the Village Clerk for over 30 years, recently retiring in 2012. She was also a Gull Lake Community Schools Bus Driver and retired after 23 years of faithful service to "Her Kids." Her hobbies included sewing, reading, silk flower arranging and jewelry making and repair. Rosemary was a long time member of the First Presbyterian Church of Richland.
Rosemary was united in marriage to Franklin L. "Frank" Woodward in Kalamazoo on December 3, 1982. Surviving is her husband of 33 years, Frank; her mother, Mary Brouwer of Portage; her daughter, Julie K. (Brian) Dingman of Portage; two sons, Marshall E. (Aldona) McMullen of Medina, OH and Andrew J. McMullen of Battle Creek, MI; two step-daughters, Deborah K. Clark of Sterling Heights, MI and Pamela M. (Robert) Laity of Royal Oak, MI; a step-son, William J. "Bill" (Shelly) Woodward of Battle Creek; ten grandchildren; 2.5 great grandchildren and three sisters, Linda (Clyde) Trainer of Schoolcraft, MI, Ruth (Jim) Kelecava of Portage and Patty (Don) Vought of Climax, MI. Rosemary was preceded in death by her two fathers, Rex Sherman and Edward Brouwer.
The Memorial Service to celebrate Rosemary's life will be held on Friday, January 22nd at 2:00 p.m. at the Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, Richland Chapel, 9170 East D Avenue (M89), with the Rev. Dr. Mark W. Jennings, Pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of Richland, officiating. Rosemary's family will greet friends on Friday from Noon until service time at the funeral home. Final interment will take place in Prairie Home Cemetery, Richland in the Spring of 2016. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Rosemary's honor may be directed to the Kalamazoo County Humane Society, 4239 S. Westnedge Avenue, Kalamazoo, MI 49008.
