Ross Douglas Hargett

Ross Douglas "Doug" Hargett, 61, of Battle Creek, died September 6, 2022. Douglas was born February 21, 1961, in Adrian Michigan to Ross and Mary Ellen (Davis) Hargett.

He graduated from Battle Creek Central High School in 1979 and attended the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan. His career was in outdoor advertising. He started in the family business and continued to work with billboards for many years.

Douglas had many interests: he was an avid sports fan, and followed the Lions, Tigers, and Dodgers.
He enjoyed music and the outdoors; he especially enjoyed attending live concerts. His favorite place to travel was to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Douglas loved his pets and shared many happy times with his two dogs, Dakota and Taz, and cats over the years. He also started a tree farm, and was a successful planter and gardener.

Douglas was a loyal, generous friend, and was always willing to help others.

Douglas is survived by his mother, Mary Ellen; a sister, Susan (David) Horner, a nephew Jeffrey (Megan) Horner, two grand-nieces, Layla and Isabelle; two nieces, Sarah (Ryan) Elmy and Katherine (John Domanski) Horner. He was preceded in death by his father, Ross.

A memorial service to celebrate Doug's life will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, September 10, 2022 at the Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care. Personal messages for the family may be placed at www.farleyestesdowdle.com.
