Roy Johnson

Roy Johnson, 72, of Richland, MI, passed away on August 8, 2013, at his home surrounded by his family.

Roy was born in Laurel, IN on December 27, 1940. He graduated from Brookville High School in 1959 where he enjoyed playing basketball, baseball and football. After serving his country in Korea, Roy spent most of his tool and die career working at General Motors in Kalamazoo, MI.

Roy married Carol Renaker on September 19, 1964. They have 2 children, Carla Herbert and Troy Johnson. Roy is survived by his wife, children, daughter-in-law Kim Johnson and grandchildren – Nick, Craig, Justin, Lauren and Kayla, brothers; George, Jim, Sam and Charlie and their families as well as many other family and friends.

In his retirement, he loved to be with his dogs, work in his garden, attend athletic events and play cards.

A memorial visitation will be held 4:00 to 8:00p.m., Monday, August 12, 2013 at the Farley-Estes & Dowdle Richland Chapel where services to celebrate Roy's life will be held 11:00a.m., Tuesday, August 13, 2013. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations made to the Gull Lake Athletic Boosters or Hospice of Southwest Michigan would be appreciated.
