Ruby Ellen Edwards

On September 17, 2019, Ruby Ellen Edwards, age 92, of Battle Creek went to be with her Heavenly Father and the "Love of Her Life", William Harold Edwards who preceded her in death on May 6, 2010, after 63 years of marriage. Ruby was born March 10, 1927 in Battle Creek to Fahm and Dorothy Mahmat and lived in Battle Creek her entire life. She was a machine operator and inspector at HB Sherman Manufacturing and retired in 1986 after 42 years of service.

She is survived by her children, Eddie Edwards of Marshall and Susan Fogarty of Chardon, Ohio; grandchildren, Clinton Edwards, Joe Fogarty and Kathryn Marley; great-grandchildren, Lucrecia "Lucy" and Elora Edwards; and her sister, DeeDee Wise. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Randall; and brothers, Larry and Fahm Jr.

Ruby was a lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church in Battle Creek and had many special friends she volunteered with, providing potluck dinners, church gardening, and anything else that needed done.

Spending time with family, gardening, and cooking were important aspects and Ruby ALWAYS had either a fresh baked pie or cake on the kitchen counter, and any visitor was not allowed to leave without eating a piece!

The family will receive friends 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 5, 2019 at Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, Battle Creek where a memorial service to celebrate Ruby's life will follow at 11:00 a.m., Saturday.
