Ruby Lee Mccray

Ruby Lee McCray, age 84, of Battle Creek passed away Sunday morning, December 12, 2021 at Bronson Hospital, Kalamazoo. She was born in Sunflower, Mississippi on April 11, 1937, to the union of Wilson and Flora Ware. Ruby was a very caring woman who would open her arms to anyone and make them part of her family. She loved to cook and make sure everything was clean. She was also a very confident lady & "gambler" and loved playing all types of cards.

Ruby was married to Archie McCray, Sr., and out of that union of marriage, Ruby was Blessed with four beautiful children.

Ruby leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter, Betty McCray; her sons, Archie (Sabrina) McCray, Jr. and Jay McCray; her grandchildren, Kyle, Phillip, James (Heather), Brandon (Mary), Billy (Antonia), Shannon (Arvad), Keisha, Brandi, Rodney, Monica (Matt), Brandi, Twain and Latoya; great-grandchildren, Nikemo, DJ, Ariana, James Jr., Jaxon, Melanie, Jayden, Matthias, Matthew, Malikhi, Melodi', Me'ir, and Mana'ya; her sisters, Van Della, Ethel, and Pat; her brothers, Edward & Freddie; and several nieces, nephews & other extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Eddie McCray; her sisters, Inez, Connie, Corrine, Mary, Dorthy Mae, Dora Lee, Callie C, Rose; her son-in-law, Billy "Buck" Vines, Sr.; and her brothers, James, Robert, Jim, O.T., Allen, Holly, Ed.

The family will receive friends 12:00 to 1:00 p.m., Friday, December 17, 2021 at Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, Battle Creek where Ruby's Home Going Celebration will begin at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.
