Russell James "Flip" Taber, age 60, of Kalamazoo died Friday afternoon, April 25, 2014 at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo. He was born in Kalamazoo on January 7, 1954, the son of James V. and Jeralene (Carlson) Taber. Flip served his country as a member of the United States Marine Corps.
Flip married the "Love of His Life", Dolores P. Rodgers in Kalamazoo on July 22, 1988; she survives. He is also survived by his children, Tanya (Richard) Stannard of Scotts, Michigan and Lee "Chip" (Lisa) Palumbo of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; 9 grandchildren; his sisters, LouEllen (Howard) Boyer and Mary (Mike) Volenski; several nieces & nephews, and his "B.O.L." club brothers, Lurch, Mike & Smiley. Flip was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, William and his sister, Bonnie.
Flip was an "all around good guy", who was liked by all who knew him. He enjoyed playing Cribbage, watching "Walker Texas Ranger", spoiling his wife, and spending time with his family & friends.
Interment with full military honors will be held 2:00 p.m., Thursday, May 8, 2014 at the Fort Custer National Cemetery. A memorial gathering to celebrate Flip's life will be held 12:00 noon, Saturday, May 10, 2014 at "The Reservation" 1503 Olmstead Rd., Kalamazoo.
