Ruth Ann Bayn, born November 7, 1939 to Edward and Ethel (Carver) Brown in Newberry, Michigan, peacefully went to sleep and awoke in the presence of Jesus.
She graduated from High School in June 1957 at the age of 17, and July of that same year she began her career of 31 years at Michigan Bell Telephone Company, transferring to Kalamazoo and then to Battle Creek. She also did a 6-month stint in Houston, Texas for the Company. While in Houston she attended The Pentecostal Church of God Bible College, then returned to Battle Creek where she retired from Michigan Bell in 1988.
In 1985, Ruth married Donald Bayn, who preceded her in death in October 2007.
Ruth was very active in Church Ministry, becoming a licensed Minister, devoting her life to ministry and served faithfully at Glad Tidings Church in Battle Creek for over 20 years. Later, she ministered at Dexter Lake Church for 15 years and then at Rhema Word Outreach Center, where she was licensed for ministry and remained active in serving others.
Ruth is survived by her nieces and nephews, Charlotte Mikuska, Cheri (Dewey) Wilder, Carolyn Brown, Clifford (Loretta) Brown, Curt (Annie) Brown, Tammy Brown, Todd Brown and other special great nieces and nephews. She is also survived by several wonderful Battle Creek families that adopted her as their own “Mama & Grandma Ruth”. They are Penny (James) Akers, Chad (Samantha), Jarrod (JoJo) & Travis (Shae)Hayes, Josie (George), Ryan (Katie) & Collin (Allison) Willbrandt, Joe (Carolyn) Varga, Eric (Rachel), Chad (Katrina) & Jeff (Laura) Miller, Suzanne Calderone, Sharon Moore and Bobbi Halder, as well as many great-grandchildren and many, dearly beloved friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Judy Brown-Justice and brothers, Ronald & Robert Brown
She was lovingly known as “Mama Ruth” to many who were blessed by her presence, kindness, and unwavering faith. Ruth’s life was marked by dedication, love, and service. She leaves behind a legacy of faith, compassion, and cherished memories. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
The family will receive friends 5:00 to 7:00p.m., Monday, August 11, 2025 at Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Cremation & Preneed Care, Battle Creek. Funeral services to celebrate Ruth's life will be held at 10:00a.m., Tuesday, August 12, 2025 at the Rhema Word Outreach Center, 21342 Capital Ave. NE, Battle Creek, MI 49017. Interment will follow at 2:00p.m. at the Fort Custer National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Ruth requested that donations be directed to the Rhema Word Outreach Center.
