Ruth Elaine (Griffore) "Dolly" Brogger of Gull Lake (Hickory Corners), MI
Dolly, age 95, went home to our Lord and Savior Friday evening, April 5, 2019.
Dolly, the daughter of Thomas and Tillie (DeCaire) Griffore, was born in Saginaw, MI on February 2, 1924 and moved to this area in 1957. She earned her BA degree in Speech and Drama from Mercy College in Detroit. Faith and family were her passions. She was a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church and served as a Eucharistic Minister and taught Religious Education. She was also very involved in the Kalamazoo Community serving on serval boards including: Lakeside for Children, Kalamazoo Junior League and the Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra. She sang and acted in many of the local theaters and had a passion for bridge. She also knew her way around the tennis court.
Dolly was united in marriage to John Joseph "Joe" Brogger Sr. in Saginaw on September 25, 1948 and he sadly preceded her in death on March 9, 2010 after 62 years of wedded bliss. Surviving are three daughters, Magee (Dan) Gordon of Grand Rapids, MI, Mikee Knoll of Northville, MI and Kelee (Claude) Majester of Dawsonville, GA; her son, Joe (Jane) Brogger II of Gull Lake; eleven precious grandchildren, Molly (Kevin) Guzniczak, Katybeth (Caleb) Halulko, Tommy (Kristy) Gordon, Chrisa (Josh) Butcher, Jackson (Emily) Knoll, Kathleen (Brian) Potts, Claude (Pauli) Majester II, Joe Majester, John (Kacie) Brogger, Bill Brogger and Jennifer Brogger and by her seven great grandchildren. Dolly was also preceded in death by her parents, six sisters and four brothers.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 10th at 11:00 a.m. in St. Ann Catholic Church, 12648 East D Avenue, Augusta, MI 49012 with Father Francis A, Marotti, Celebrant, Monsignor Michael Hazard, Concelebrant and Deacon Michael A. Carl, Assisting. Family and friends will continue Dolly's life celebration with a time of fellowship, visiting and a luncheon following the Mass in the Church Social Hall from 12:00 a 1:30 pm. Private, Family Interment will be in Yorkville Cemetery, Ross Township. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Dolly's honor may be directed to the Borgess Foundation, the Lakeside for Children Foundation , Heritage Community of Kalamazoo or Hospice Care of Southwestern Michigan. The Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, Richland Chapel (269-629-6022) is assisting Dolly's family.
