Ruth "Louise" (Coyle) Pierce, 91, of Battle Creek, MI passed away at Glenn Arbor Hospice Residence in Battle Creek on July 20, 2021. Louise was born July 27, 1929 in Battle Creek, the daughter of Delphus C. Coyle & Stella Vivian (Bruce) Coyle. She is predeceased by her husband, Richard "Dick" Neil Pierce (married 52 years), brother Dr. Darce C. Coyle, sisters, M. Maree (Coyle) Purtell & E. Lorene (Coyle) Blanck. She is survived by her son, Darcy Pierce and wife, Donna of St Johns, FL, granddaughters, Jaimee (Pierce) Mills of Battle Creek, Elise (Pierce) Harness of Wahaiwa, HI and grandson Collin Pierce of Portland, ME and great grandchildren Connor Mills, Isabella Pitz & Josiah Harness.
Louise graduated from Battle Creek High School in 1947 and attended one year at Wheaton College. While in high school, she assisted at the Gospel Center Church playing piano & singing for their local radio program. Upon finishing school, she worked as a telephone operator/call monitor with Michigan Bell Telephone Co. and retired in 1968 after 20 years of service. In her younger years, she was a pianist/organist, sang at various churches, lead a choir, taught Sunday school children's classes, was a boy scout den mother and later worked alongside Dick catering and preparing many church banquet meals. Following Dick's retirement in 1991, they moved to Leesburg, FL (13 years) before returning to Michigan (Richland) in 2004. In 2009 they moved into NorthPointe Woods Assisted Living in Battle Creek. She became one of the longest residing residents (12 years) and lived out her remaining years there. A private family memorial service will be held TBD.
