Sally Dawn Lester

Sally Lester, age 69 of Battle Creek died peacefully at her home on Monday morning, December 30, 2024. She was born at Community Hospital in Battle Creek on July 29, 1955, and was the daughter of Esther and Bill Lentz. Sally graduated from Lakeview High School with the Class of 1973 and continued her education at Kellogg Community College. She worked for several years at Transamerica Insurance, and then served at many area law offices and Lakeview Card & Gifts and Happy House Gifts. 

Sally married Terry Lester at the Birchwood United Methodist Church on June 15, 1974; he survives. She is also survived by her children, Abby (Don) Bennett and Tom Lester, both of Battle Creek; her grandchildren, Tyler (Kayla) Langford, Bailey Struble-Bennett, Savanna Bennett, Chandler Struble and Leianne (Kyle) Robins; her great-granddaughter, Naveah Robins; her brothers, Christopher (Nancy) Micklatcher and Paul Lentz; her sisters, Mitzi (David/Margaret) Lantz, Janean Lentz, Rose Ward, Norma Sanabria; and several nieces, nephews & cousins. Sally was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Michael; and nephews, David and Abe.

Sally was a longtime member of Chapel Hill United Methodist Church and Weight Watchers of Battle Creek. She was a big fan of Volcano Pizza, collected greeting cards & decorative stamps, and loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

The family will receive friends 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Friday, January 3, 2025 at Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Cremation Preneed Care, Battle Creek. Funeral services to celebrate Sally's life will be held 10:00 a.m., Saturday, January 4, 2025 at the Chapel Hill United Methodist Church, 157 Chapel Hill Drive, Battle Creek. A luncheon will immediately after the service. Interment will then be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday in the chapel at Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Chapel Hill United Methodist Church, the American Cancer Society or the charity of one's choice.
