Sally, age 78, died peacefully Saturday afternoon, December 5, 2020 at her residence with her entire family at her side. Her family are comforted that she is now in the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Sally, the daughter of Robert and Patsie {Askew} Mahoney, was born in Battle Creek, MI on June 19, 1942 and was a 1960 graduate of Battle Creek Lakeview High School. Her family was everything to her. She was a devoted and loving wife to Richard, a wonderful mother to her children and amazing grandmother to her grandchildren. Next to time spent with her family, gardening and decorating were her loves. She routinely spent several hours a day working in her gardens and beautifying her lovely home with a variety of sights and smells. Sally was an active member of Yorkville Community Church where she was a member of the Women's Guild. She spent many hours helping with hospitality, rummage sales, and working in the gardens. She was a unit clerk at Leila Hospital for ten years.


Sally was united in marriage to Richard M. Waters in Battle Creek on November 28, 1960. Surviving is her husband of 60 years, Dick; two daughters, Julie L. Holmes of Battle Creek and Elizabeth A. (David) DiMaria of Taylor, MI; her son, Steven M. (Jeanna) Waters of Jenison, MI; twelve precious grandchildren; nine great grandchildren and 1/2 brother, David (Alice) Moorian of Kalamazoo, MI. Sally was preceded in death by her parents.


The Funeral Service to celebrate Sally's life will be held on Friday, December 11th at Noon in the Yorkville Community Church, 11523 East D Avenue, Richland, MI 49083 with Mr. Michael J. Budd of Quincy, MI, officiating. Sally's family will greet friends on Friday from 11:00 a.m. until service time in the Church Fellowship Hall. Masks are required and social distancing will be maintained. Private, family interment will follow in Fort Custer National Cemetery, Augusta, MI. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Sally's honor may be directed to Hospice Care of Southwestern Michigan, 222 North Kalamazoo Mall, Suite 100, Kalamazoo, MI 49007. The Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, Richland Chapel is assisting Sally's family.
