Samuel Hostetler, Jr. (Sam), age 82 passed away August 16, 2023, in Allegan, Michigan.
Sam was a maintenance welder at General Motors where he worked for twenty-seven years before his retirement. During his retirement he worked at Sears in Battle Creek and Wolf’s Marine in Benton Harbor. Sam loved to travel, and he and his wife purchased a 5th wheel and toured the United States and spent winters in Arizona until Sam’s health no longer permitted travel. Sam met many good friends along the way. He loved trucks and he had his pride and joy in his Silverado 3500 Dually Diesel when he pulled his 5th wheel. His wife used to tease him that if you cut off the top of his head, trucks would run out. Sam couldn’t walk by a tool he didn’t love and enjoyed working in his shop. He also took pride in earning his CDL.
Sam is survived by his wife, Norma, and his two stepchildren, Bryan Flach and Renee (TJ) Fears.
He also has four children from his first marriage and his sister, Diana (Ron) Keith of Augusta; two brothers, Robert Hostetler of Comstock and Kenneth Hostetler of Comstock. He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Edith Hostetler, formerly of Comstock, Michigan.
Sam, we’ll always carry your memory in our hearts and remember you as a gentle, loving husband, stepfather, and friend. You will be dearly missed.
Sam will be honored at a graveside service on Friday, August 25, 2023, at 1:00 pm at Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens in Battle Creek, Michigan.
