Samuel Samfilippo

Samuel Samfilippo, age 100, of Hickory Corners passed away peacefully at his home on January 13, 2022. He was born in Jerome, Pennsylvania on May 18, 1921 the son of Louis and Margaret (Agnello) Samfilippo. Sam faithfully served his country as a member of the United States Navy during WWII and owned and operated Sam & Joe's Barber Shop in Lincoln Park, Michigan for nearly 60 years. He was also an active member of the St. Mary's men's club in Pinckney for many years.

Sam married the "Love of His Life", Florabelle Busatti in Wyandotte, Michigan on August 17, 1946; she survives. He is also survived by his children, Samuel (Amy) Samfilippo, Jr. and Toni George; his grandchildren, Megan (Michael) Spencley, Joshua George, Jeffery (Dawn) Samfilippo, Jennifer (Demil) Harris, and Michael Samfilippo; a brother, James Samfilippo and several great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces & nephews. Sam was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers.

Sam loved to dance & listen to Big Band music, crossword puzzles & spending time with his family and friends. He also enjoyed being outdoors, feeding the birds, cutting the grass and volunteered many hours teaching 2nd & 3rd graders to read.

The family will receive friends 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., Saturday May 21st at the Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, Richland Chapel where services to celebrate Sam's life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday. Interment with full military honors will follow at Cressey Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
