Sandra J. Sommers

Sandra J. Sommers, 83, of Battle Creek, died August 17, 2026. Sandra was born February 2, 1943 in Olean, NY to Oakley and Emma Jane (White) McDonald. Sandra graduated from Port Allegheny High School in Pennsylvania and went on to get her associate’s degree from Kellogg Community College. Sandra served her country honorably in the United States Navy.

Sandra married Reuben Sommers on August 4, 1962. He sadly preceded her in death, along with her son, Brian in 2025. Sandra is survived by her son, Reuben (L) Sommers, Jr.; grandchildren, Anthony Smith, Rachal Smith and Kyle Smith; great-grandchildren, Angelica Smith and Kendra Hensley; a sister, Sylvia Goodwin and many nieces and nephews.

Sandra was a dedicated homemaker when her children were growing up. She enjoyed gardening, crafts and sewing. She loved to decorate her house for the holidays, especially for Christmas.
