Scott Allen Harrison, RN, BSN, age 50 of Battle Creek, MI, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, June 4, 2014.
Scott was born June 18, 1963, in Battle Creek, MI to Sally Kay Harrison. He grew up in the Battle Creek area and was a 1981 graduate of the former Springfield High School. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force, receiving numerous educational and military citations. During his 2nd tour of duty, Scott was a personal steward for Vice President George and Barbara Bush; along with numerous members of congress, dignitaries and ambassadors on many blue and white flights. Scott earned his Associate Degree in Nursing from Kellogg Community College and became a Registered Nurse. He earned a Bachelor's of Science in Nursing from Miller College, as a Summa Cum Laude honor student. Due to serious health issues, Scott was only two clinicals short of receiving his Master's Degree, as an Acute Care and Critical Care Nurse Practitioner, through Wayne State University, where he was a member of the International Golden Key Honor Society and a member of Sigma Theta Tau Honor Society. He was employed as an RN at Select Specialty Hospital until retiring, due to his health, on September 27, 2011.
Scott Allen Harrison-Robinson and Tim Robinson-Harrison were united in marriage on August 3, 1996. Surviving are Tim, his permanent life partner; Godmothers, Ginny and Jody Pittman; God-sisters, Kami (Mike) Jackson, Renee (Mike) Cox; the Robinson family, Dick, Dawn, Cece, Cory and Kevin; his aunt, Chris Harrison and several cousins; best friends, Elizabeth and Suzanne O'Colmain-Wheeler, Denise Juvancic, Amy Kleinfelt, Gary and Ann Lyon. Scott was preceded in death by his mother, Sally on November 5, 1994; his grandparents, Pearl and Clifford Harrison, aunt, Marjorie; uncles, Robert, Frederick and Richard; God-brother, Andy; Tim's mother, Betty Robinson and several cousins.
Scott was a member of the Society of American Nursing, International Golden Key Society, Sigma Theta Tau, St. Thomas Episcopal Church and the Battle Creek Kennel Club. He enjoyed traveling, baking and vegetable and flower gardening. Scott was an excellent cook and found cooking to be a stress release for him and a reward for those who were lucky enough to consume his delicacies. Scott and Tim raised, trained and showed prize winning Boxers, Chihuahuas and French Bull Dogs. Scott loved to play cards, doing crossword puzzles, working as a nurse (a calling sent by God), attending Bible study with his church family, dancing, education and learning.
Friends will be received at the Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home 2:00-4:00 & 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, June 13, 2014. Funeral services will be officiated by The Rev. Brian Coleman 11:30 a.m. Saturday, June 14, 2014, at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, 16 E. VanBuren St., Battle Creek, MI. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Bellevue, MI next to Scott's mom, Sally.
