Scott T. Mumy, age 62, of Augusta, died peacefully at home on Friday, September 29, 2017. He was born at Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo on December 9, 1954 to Roscoe and Patricia (Atkins) Mumy. Scott graduated from Gull Lake High School in 1973. He married Connie (Jansen) Mumy on September 10, 1977. Scott completed the Carpenters Union apprenticeship course and learned fast from the master, Roscoe, who taught him a work ethic, knowledge, and how to build some amazing buildings. He worked for MW Vanderveen, and Kalleward Construction, supervising the construction of many commercial buildings in Kalamazoo and the surrounding areas.
Scott is survived by his wife, Connie; sons, Jordan (Jody Walton) and Clayton; and a precious granddaughter, Jaycee Mumy. He is also survived by family, Ken and Maryellen, Craig and Deb, Pam and Guy, Denny and Jari Kral; Connie's family, Carroll and Lorraine and Phil Jansen, and many beloved nieces & nephews. Scott was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Gertrude (Mumy) Tompkins; brother-inlaw, Laurie and John Clark; sister, Kay Taylor; neice, Kaitlin Kral and Connie's brother, Chris Jansen.
Scott had Border Collies all his life beginning at age 16, when his dad had him build a fence to earn it. We even received one as a wedding gift. I gave him his first kitten and like the dogs, they were constant companions. Scott was very involved with his sons, Jordan and Clayton's 4-H projects for many years and served on the Kalamazoo County Fair Board.
The family will receive friends 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, October 5, 2017 at the Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, Richland Chapel.
