Sharon Rae Cooper, 70, of Battle Creek, passed away on September 11, 2026.
Sharon was born to Donald and Wilma (Meyers) Chalfant on November 10, 1955, in Grand Rapids, Michigan,
She is survived by her children, Shannon (Dan) Ferguson, Stephen (Cindi) Cooper, and Khris (Stephanie) Carr; eight grandchildren, Josh Cooper, Alexis Cooper, Aliyah Cooper, Landon Cooper, Ashlyn Cooper, Sam Cooper, Nayah Carr, and Jaida Rivera; two brothers, Paul Chalfant and Si Chalfant; a sister, Sandra Anderson; sister-in-law Lyla Schmidt, and many beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Stephen Cooper, in 2022.
Sharon was full of love and made friends everywhere she went. She lived with an open-door policy and helped countless people over the years. Always ready with a warm smile and a hug, she was one of the most accepting people you could meet.
She had a deep love for dogs, butterflies, and the Bee Gees, and cherished time with her friends and family. Her faith in God was central to her life, as was her church family at North Avenue Church of God. Above all, Sharon treasured her husband, children, grandchildren, extended family, and friends.
A graveside service will be held at Fort Custer National Cemetery on Thursday, September 17, 2026 at 3:00 PM, followed by a memorial service celebrating Sharon's life at North Avenue Church of God at 4:00 PM. Arrangements by the Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care. Pesonal messages for the family may be placed at www.farleyestesdowdle.com.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the family to help with funeral expenses.
