Sharon Lee (Steinmetz) Harris, 66, of Battle Creek died peacefully with family at her side, at Reflections Memory Care on Monday, November 30, 2020.
Sharon was born December 29, 1953 in Milan, Indiana to Harold and Margaret (Noppert) Steinmetz. She grew up in Columbus, Indiana and graduated from Columbus North High School in 1972. Sharon attended Indiana State University, where she was a cheerleader. She was employed as a dental hygienist for 20 years for Ron and Sue Halonen at Halonen Family Dentistry in Battle Creek, Michigan.
While at Indiana State University, Sharon met Tom Harris. Sharon Lee Steinmetz was united in marriage to Thomas Charles Harris on August 3, 1974 at St. Columba Church (now St. Bartholomew) in Columbus, Indiana. Surviving are her husband, Tom; two daughters, Kristin Harris Rider of Noblesville, IN, Traci (Brad) Harris McGaha of Westfield, IN; four grandchildren, Ellie, Logan, Thomas, & Austin; her mother, Margaret Steinmetz of Columbus, IN; sister, Lynn (Bob) Steinmetz Morris of Carmel, IN, and several nieces, nephews, cousins and their families. Her father, Harold Steinmetz and a sister, Carol Steinmetz Brammer, preceded Sharon in death.
Sharon was a long-standing member of St, Joseph Roman Catholic Church, and a member of Battle Creek Country Club, a Bridge Club, and local book clubs. She loved being active and enjoying time outdoors, including walking, skiing and golfing Sharon loved making memories with her family and friends, especially visiting Florida and enjoying the sunshine and the beach. Her family will always cherish these memories. She was the coach of the St. Philip Catholic Central Cheerleaders for five years. Sharon will be remembered for her wonderful smile, engaging personality, kindness, and concern for others.
Due to recent regulations, a private family Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate Sharon's life will be celebrated by Rev. Christopher Ankley 10:00 a.m. Monday, December 7, 2020 at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church. A private committal and entombment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
