Shirley (Long) Pinson, 54, of Battle Creek, formerly Sampson, lost her battle with ALS early Dec. 24th. She was born October 29, 1964 in Elkhart, Indiana to William and Beverly (Bernheisel) Long. She attended Southeastern Jr. High, and Battle Creek Central where she met her first husband, Richard Sampson.
They had one son Jason Sampson and he survives. Later she met Ron McDonald, and they had a daughter Shaina McDonald, who survives. Survivors also include her mother Beverly Long; brother, DeWayne Long; sisters, Johanna (Clayton) Dove all of Battle Creek, Deanna (Bill) Adair of Fairview, Oklahoma; granddaughter Lyndsay Sampson; and several nephews and a niece. She was preceded by her second husband, Jeff Parish; her father, William Long and nephew Brian Adair.
Over the last several years she had lived in Florida, Oklahoma and Tennessee where she was employed as a quality inspector for several factories. She was outgoing, witty and had a contagious laugh.
A visitation for Shirley is planned from 3-5 pm, Saturday, December 29, 2018 at the Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, 105 Capital Ave., Battle Creek, MI 49017.
