Shirley Jean Sebright, age 87 of Battle Creek passed away Sunday evening, February 11, 2024 at the University of Michigan Hospital. Shirley was born February 15, 1936 in Battle Creek, Michigan the daughter of Donald Bradley and Lillian (Costen) Bassler. She attended Battle Creek Central High School and worked for several years at the P.N.A. and the Eagles.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, Edward Brizendine and Fred Sebright; a son, William Allen Brizendine; a sister, Nancy Childs Tomki; two brothers, Donald W. Bassler, William E. “Bill” Bassler, and a half-sister, Donna Bradley. She is survived by her children, Debra (Al) Meyer of East Leory and Steven Brizendine of Battle Creek; her grandchildren, Amanda (Jonathan) Pignataro, Tiffany (Ben) Lord, Ashley Bruckner, Eric Brizendine, Steven Brizendine, Jason Brizendine, Danielle Misner; 8 great-grandchildren; her sister, Betty Cary of Ceresco; and two half-sisters, Peggy (John) Weipert of Battle Creek and Marie (Warren) Marsh of Marion, OH.
A celebration of Shirley’s life will be held 10:30 a.m., Friday, February 16, 2024 at the Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta, Michigan. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of South Central Michigan 2500 Watkins Rd. Battle Creek, MI 49015.
