Stanley Ralph Belden 82, of Battle Creek Ml passed peacefully Wednesday July 18,2018 at Rose Arbor Hospice in Kalamazoo, after heroically battling Parkinson's Disease for 5 years. He was laid to rest knowing he was loved surrounded by his three children and grandchildren. The wonderful staff at Rose Arbor showed true love and tender care for both Stan and his family. Stan's family truly thanks them for making his final days peaceful and painless.
Stan was born in Battle Creek August 1, 1935 to Charles and Ethel (Allison) Belden. He graduated from Delton Kellogg in 1953, joining the US Army Reserves immediately following. He then took employment at Michigan Carton (St Regis) Co. where he retired after 44 years as a Printing Pressman Foreman. He married Gracie Ellen Jacobs in 1958 and they were married for 31 years, prior to their divorce. He then married Marilyn Baker and they remained together until her unfortunate passing.
Stan was an avid sports fan and participant. He played baseball, softball, volleyball, golfed, and bowled. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, crafts including leather work, woodworking and painting. Stan coached little league baseball for his son, and several years for his daughters, continuing into their adult years; and his teams won several championships. "Stan the Man" so he was called, was a great father, son, brother, and friend. He will be missed dearly, but NEVER forgotten.
Stan was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Ethel Belden; his loving wife, Marilyn Baker; brother, Gerald Belden; two sisters, Evelyn Hill and Beatrice Thibadoe and granddaughter, Mindy Ogg. Surviving are a son, Gerald Belden of Battle Creek; two daughters, Kelli McCleary and Kerri Simmet both of Battle Creek; two step children, Cathy and Deo; five grandchildren, Derek, Douglas, Eric, Shaila, and Kaila; and six great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received 12:00 noon - 1:00 p.m. Saturday July 28th, at Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & and Cremation Care, where a memorial service to celebrate Stan's life will be officiated by Pastor Chuck Winter at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, July 28, 2018.
