Stanley Michael "Stan" Hurn

January 25, 1954 — June 12, 2017

Stanley Michael "Stan" Hurn of Hickory Corners, MI
Following a courageous two-year battle with cancer, Stan went home to be with his Lord and Savior on June 12, 2017. His loving family was by his side at his home in Hickory Corners as he slipped peacefully into eternity.

Stan, son of William M. and Virginia A. (King) Hurn, was born in Idabel, OK, on January 25, 1954. He was a 1973 graduate of Southfield (MI) Lathrop High School and received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Industrial Technology from Central Michigan University. The family moved to the Gull Lake area from Tucson, AZ, in 1989. He was the General Manager for ASMO Manufacturing of Battle Creek, MI, for the past 29 years. Stan was a member of the Gull Lake Bible Church of Hickory Corners. He enjoyed playing a round of golf with family and friends, loved being in the woods, and he had a passion for hunting and fishing. He was an avid cyclist - "The Ox"- and was a member of The Minions Group Bicycle Ride. Stan's favorite times were spent on Gull Lake grilling on his pontoon with his family. Even a few fish were caught!

Stan was united in marriage to the love of his life, Gail Marie McCracken in Southfield, MI, on June 15, 1979. Surviving are his wife of 38 years, Gail, four sons, Daniel M. (Jessica) Hurn and Michael W. (Michelle) Hurn, both of Kalamazoo, MI, James P. "JP" (Kristin) Hurn of Richland, MI, and John L. Hurn of Hickory Corners (roomies with mom.) He leaves behind a legacy of six precious grandchildren: Kamryn, Hayden, Brayden, Gavin, Adelyn and Sutton. He is also survived by three sisters: Cindy (Smokey) Davis, Karen Patterson and Nita (Robert) Mackley, all of Tucson. Stan was preceded in death by his parents.

The Funeral Service to celebrate Stan's life will be held on Saturday, June 17 at 10:30 a.m. at the Gull Lake Bible Church, 1491 Midland Drive Hickory Corner, MI 49060 with the Rev. Gary T. Cantrell, Pastor, officiating. Interment will follow at Day Cemetery, Ross Township.
