Susan Lee Gordon, age 73, of Augusta passed away peacefully on Friday evening, January 21, 2022. She was born in Long Beach, California on March 29, 1948, the loving daughter of Richard Lewis and Ruth Florence (Davis) Guernsey. Susan received her Bachelor's degree from Nazareth College and her Master's degree from Western Michigan University. She served as an 8th grade teacher in St. Joe, Kalamazoo and Hartford, Michigan for many years. Susan enjoyed traveling, and all types of arts & crafts, especially painting figurines and building dollhouses.
Susan is survived by her sons, Matthew (Amy) Gordon of Galesburg, Richard Martinek of Augusta, David (Loretta) Holden of Paradise, MI, and Robert (Dani) Holden of Maine; her daughter, Kimberly (Mark) Holden Plump of California; her grandchildren, Anthony & Justin Gordon, Killian Martinek, Alexis, Aaron, Sarah, Josh, Rachel, Bethany, Elijah, Caleb, Isaac, Elsie, Sam, Joe, Anna, Rhy, Jacob, Mia, Em & Sam Holden; and 6 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers, Richard (Suzanne) Guernsey of Arizona and Thomas (Kathe) Guernsey of California; her sister, Lori Guernsey-Viscomi of Florida; 3 nieces; 2 nephews; and 6 great nieces & nephews. Susan was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Timothy Guernsey.
The family will receive friends 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 29th at the Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, Augusta Chapel where a memorial service to celebrate her life will begin at 11:00 a.m., Saturday with her son, Pastor Dave Holden, officiating.
