Thelma J. Stewart, 90, of Battle Creek, died at home on Tuesday, January 6, 2015.
She was born September 17, 1924, in Battle Creek to Leslie and Hazel (Thompson) Bauman. Thelma was a 1942 graduate of Battle Creek Central High School. Thelma was united in marriage to Roysten "Rusty" Stewart on May 14, 1949, in Independence, Missouri. She was a loving, supportive and encouraging wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed baking, cooking and decorating.
Surviving are Rusty, her husband of 65+ years; daughter, Sally (Harley) Tanner; granddaughter, Stephanie Banwart; great-grandchildren, Shae and Kode Banwart; and niece, Suzanne Shellenbarger. Thelma was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Leslie R. Bauman Jr.; an infant sister; and nephews, William and Brace Bauman.
Friends will be received the hour prior to services 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 10, 2014. Committal and interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
