Theresa Yvonne (Guehl) Greene

Theresa Yvonne Greene, age 81, of Battle Creek died peacefully at her home on Thursday morning, May 22, 2014. She was born in Battle Creek on February 17, 1933, the loving daughter of Anthony H. and Karlene I. (Johnson) Guehl. Theresa graduated from Lakeview High School with the Class of 1951 and furthered her education at Kellogg Community College. She had been employed as an LPN at both Leila and Community Hospitals.

Theresa married Richard Theodore Greene in Angola, Indiana on January 16, 1951; he preceded her in death on April 10, 2013. She is survived by her children, Frances (Robert) Hinsley of Battle Creek, Gary (Vickie) Greene of Mooresville, North Carolina, and Brenda (Patrick) Cieslak of Battle Creek; 6 grandchildren, Robert A. Hinsley, Andrew T. Hinsley, Jennifer Cheung, Amanda Wilson, Tim and Cory Cieslak; 5 great-grandchildren; a brother, Anthony (Sally) Guehl of California, and a brother-in-law, Melvin Schragg of Ceresco. Theresa was also preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Elizabeth Schragg; Mary (Jim) Tallent, and one great granddaughter: Cleo Hinsley.

Theresa was a member of the Lawyers Wives and transported school children for bowling practice and tournaments in the Battle Creek area. She also enjoyed bowling, knitting, crocheting, sewing and even made her daughters' wedding dresses.

A memorial visitation will be held 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday (May 30, 2014) at the Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home, where a memorial service to celebrate her life will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 31, 2014. Inurnment will be held later at Fort Custer National Cemetery. Memorials contributions may be made to Lifespan Good Samaritan Hospice Care.
