Thomas A. Balluff April 1, 1951– June 26, 2025

Thomas A. “Tom” Balluff, 74, passed away of natural causes at home in Battle Creek, Michigan on Thursday evening, June 26, 2025.

Born and raised in Battle Creek, Tom enjoyed a happy childhood alongside his beloved sister, Ruth Balluff (Justesen). He was the son of the late Frank and Thera Balluff, and he carried forward the strong values they instilled in him throughout his life.

After graduating from Lakeview High School in 1969, Tom attended Michigan State University, where he earned a degree in Food Science in 1974. A member of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity and proud Spartan alumnus, he remained a devoted MSU fan, cheering passionately for his team and always wearing green and white with pride.

His degree led to a remarkable 27-year career at the Kellogg Company, where his strong work ethic, problem-solving skills, and professionalism set him apart. Tom excelled in his role, earning the respect of colleagues and making meaningful contributions to the food industry.

Tom’s love for life extended far beyond his professional achievements. He was an avid golfer who played courses across the country and a seasoned traveler who cruised the world, forming lasting friendships along the way. Whether exploring new destinations or solving puzzles at home, Tom found joy in both the big adventures and the quiet moments.

He was a man of principles—steadfast, prepared, and someone you could always count on. His family remembers him as humble, caring, and deeply reliable.

Tom was a loving father and grandfather “Gabba” as his granddaughter called him, who found his greatest joy in supporting the people he cared about. He never missed a sports game, award ceremony, or performance if it involved a loved one. He also had a soft spot for dogs, sports cars, and had a deep appreciation for life’s simple pleasures, especially time with family.

He is survived by his devoted daughter, Shannon L Balluff- Laskovy, son-in-law, Eric Laskovy, his cherished granddaughter Kellin Grace Laskovy; his dear sister Ruth (Just) Justesen, and his beloved nieces: Kristen (Etienne) Pichon-Varin, Stephanie (Shan) Burkhalter, Lauren (Carey) Bailey; great nephews Cullen and Caleb Bailey; and cousins: Barry (Mary) Nowlin and Cindy (Greg) Kirkland.

His life left a lasting legacy of love, loyalty, and integrity—one that will continue to inspire all who were fortunate to know him.

A memorial visitation to honor and celebrate Tom’s life will be held on Monday, July 7th at 4:00-6:00 pm, with a Rosary Service at 6:00 p.m. at Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care. Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance of his life and are encouraged to wear green in honor of Tom’s love of the MSU Spartans.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in his memory to the Binder Park Zoo. Personal messages for the family may be placed at www.farleyestesdowdle.com.
