Thomas H. Bishop, 90, of Battle Creek died peacefully at home, with his family at his side on Saturday, October 17, 2015.

Tom was born March 29, 1925 in Dayton, Tennessee to John Henry and Emily (Spangler) Bishop. He grew up in Dayton, TN. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and later in the U.S. Army. Tom retired from the Kellogg Company in 1987, where he was employed as a toolmaker for 14 years.

Thomas H. Bishop was united in marriage to Catherine Coxey on January 12, 1947. Sadly, he was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine on December 8, 2005. Surviving are two daughters, Tommie Sue Bishop of Battle Creek; LaNelle Thurman of Battle Creek; four grandchildren, Jennifer (Warrick) Gipson, Ronald (Lynda) Thurman, Timothy Thurman and Amanda Thurman; seven great-grandchildren; and a sister Leoma Parsons of Denver, CO.

In addition to his wife, Tom was also preceded in death by six brothers Freeman, Berry, Perry, Edd, Crawford and Robert Bishop; and two sisters, Elizabeth Vaughn and Alice Revis.

Tom was a member of the Crossroads Church and Ministries and Ira A. Beck Masonic Lodge #503. He enjoyed cooking, gardening, fishing, golfing, and used to go snowmobiling. He loved his family. Tom will be remembered as being generous and loving.

Friends will be received Tuesday, October 20th, 2015 from 5-8 p.m. at the Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care where, funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday October 21, 2015, officiated by Pastor Scott Loughrige. Committal and interment will follow at Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens.
