Thomas Jerome "Tom" Macknosky of Richland, MI
Tom, age 77, died Monday afternoon, December 29, 2104 at Borgess Medical Center, Kalamazoo, MI, following a lengthy illness and surrounded by his loving family.
Tom, the son of Adam and Tessi (Baranowski) Macknosky, was born on December 21, 1937 in Scranton, PA and moved to this area in 1987 from Novi, MI. He served his country honorably and nobly during the Korean War as TSGT in the United States Air Force handling security measures. He continued after the War in the Air Force finally retiring from Offutt Air Force Base in Omaha, NE. Tom was employed as an IT man for Prab, Inc. of Kalamazoo for the last few years. He was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church of Gull Lake (Augusta, MI) and enjoyed woodworking in his spare time.
Tom was united in marriage to the former Deloris E. Menke on October 11, 1979 in Omaha, NE. Surviving is his wife of 35 years, Dee; his step-daughter, Christy L. (George) Walch of Livonia, MI; two grandchildren, Haleigh E. and Garret A. Walch; his son, Tod Macknosky; his daughter, Corrin Macknosky; three sisters, Dorothy Toth of Troop, PA, Judy Bethcher of Clark City, PA and Mary Littman of Scranton, PA and a brother, Paul (Rosalyn) Macknosky of Dixon City, PA. Tom was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Helen and Margie and a brother, Bobby.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, January 9, 2015 at 11:30 a.m. at St. Ann Catholic Church, 12648 East D Avenue, Augusta, with Father James F. Adams, Pastor, as Celebrant and Deacon Michael A. Carl, Assisting. Tom's family will greet friends from 10:30 a.m. until Mass time at the Church. Interment will follow at Fort Custer National Cemetery, Augusta with full military honors bestowed by the United States Air Force Honor Guard from Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, OH and the Fort Custer Honor Guard. Family and friends will return to St. Ann's Social Hall to continue Tom's life celebration with a time of fellowship and a luncheon. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Tom's honor may be directed to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research, Grand Central Station, P.O. Box 4777, New York, NY 10163-4777. The Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home, Richland Chapel (269-629-6022) is in charge of all the arrangements.
