Thomas Walter McLiechey III, age 82, of Battle Creek, passed away Monday, June 6, 2022.
Thomas was born January 9, 1940 in Battle Creek, the son of Thomas Walter and Oleada (Huges) McLiechey. He enjoyed volunteering weekends at the Battle Creek Historical Museum and Historic Adventist Village. He loved estate sales, cooking, Motown music and spending time with his family. Thomas was very proud of his heritage as a descendant of Sojourner Truth, which meant a lot to him and his family.
Thomas is survived by his wife, Margaret McLiechey; children, Tommy McLiechey, Timothy McLiechey, Donald McLiechey, Shelley McLiechey, Brenda Saylor, Irene Hardgrove, Justin McLiechey and 21 grandchildren; siblings, Phyllis Webster, Patricia Brooks, Shirley McLeichey, Doris Cochran and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Doreea McLiechey, granddaughter Ericia McLiechey and a brother, Michael McLiechey.
Thomas's family will receive friends for visitation from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, June 16, 2022 at Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, and one hour prior to the service on Friday, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the church. A funeral service will be 1:00 p.m., Friday, June 17, 2022 at North Avenue Church of God. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial Donations may be directed to the Sojourner Truth Fund or to the Historic Adventist Village, 480 Van Buren St. Battle Creek, MI 49037.
