Thomas Scott Pritt, 60 of Battle Creek, Michigan and formerly of Livonia, Michigan died unexpectedly of natural causes at home on Friday, December 30, 2022.
Tom was born August 19, 1962 in Wayne, Michigan the son of Richard Pritt and Jeanette Vogel Pritt. Tom grew up in Livonia, MI graduating from Churchill High School in 1981, where he played numerous sports including football, basketball, track and field, and cross country. Tom went on to earn his Bachelor's Degree in Education with minors in Physical Education and Health from Central Michigan University. His graduate studies at Olivet College were in Education, Social Studies, History, Physical Education, and Health. Throughout his career, Tom taught at several schools in the Battle Creek and Kalamazoo areas and was a Therapeutic Counselor at Starr Commonwealth. He had been the head softball coach at Kellogg Community College and coached softball and basketball at Olivet College. He was currently employed as a high school teacher at Charlotte Public Schools where he had found his teaching home. Tom loved teaching, coaching, all sports, music, poetry, history, and he especially loved being a father to his son. He will be greatly missed.
Surviving is his son, Joel Scott Pritt of Battle Creek, MI; mother, Jeanette Pritt of Northville, MI; sister, Cynthia Stoll of Livonia, MI; nieces and nephews, Nicholas and Abigail Stoll, Rachel (Charles Cameron) Carpenter, Alison (Chad) VanOverbeke of Chicago, IL, Caleb Carpenter of Flint, MI, and three great nephews, Isaac and Isaiah Cameron and Charles Finnley "Finn" VanOverbeke. Tom was preceded in death by his father, Richard Pritt, and sister Katherine Carpenter.
Friends will be received 2:00-3:00 p.m. Saturday, January 21, 2023 at Tom's church, Chapel Hill United Methodist Church, 157 Chapel Hill Dr., Battle Creek, MI 49015, where a service to celebrate Tom's life will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, January 21, 2023. A private internment will take place at a later date and held at Parkview Memorial Cemetery in Livonia, MI.
