Trudy Lynn Newton

Trudy Lynn (Norwood) Newton, 65, of Augusta, Michigan, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 17, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Trudy was born May 19, 1961, in Greenville, Michigan, to Lyal D. “Skip” Norwood and Phyllis M. (Flanigan) Hosfelt. She grew up in East Detroit and graduated from East Detroit High School in 1979.

A hardworking woman, Trudy owned and operated a cleaning business, taking great pride in her work and caring for the homes of others. She loved Jesus, sunshine, Elton John, The Rolling Stones, peace, and equality. She found joy in antiques and furniture restoration, caring for her plants and gardens, and cherishing daily phone calls with friends. Trudy was a calming presence who could always see both sides of a situation.

Surviving are her son, Jamie J. Milke of Augusta, MI; daughter, Jennah M. Newton of St. Pete Beach, FL; her father and stepmother, Lyal D. “Skip” and Diana Norwood of Sparta, MI; stepfather, Roy Hosfelt of Allen Park, MI; brother, Ron Norwood, and his wife, Lori Norwood, of Plainwell, MI; aunts and uncles, including Jan and Kurt Helgerson; several cousins, including Rhonda Simon, whom she shared a sister-like bond with; nieces and nephews; and numerous friends whom she kept close throughout her life.

Trudy was preceded in death by her mother, Phyllis M. (Flanigan) Hosfelt.

Trudy was a devoted daughter, a loving mother, and a dependable friend. She had a strong faith and a caring nature. She was someone people could turn to when they needed to talk, and she was known for listening, offering advice, and staying connected with the people she cared about.

Trudy had a remarkable memory and remembered the details of people’s lives, including birthdays, important events, and stories they had shared with her. She made an effort to stay connected and took a genuine interest in what was happening in the lives of those around her.

Her children were an important part of her life, and she was proud of them and their accomplishments. She remained devoted to them and hopeful for their futures throughout their lives.

Trudy will be remembered for her faith, kindness, loyalty, sense of humor, and the care she showed to others. She leaves behind countless memories shared with family and many cherished friends.

She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
