Vera L. Hagadorn

March 3, 1920 — March 23, 2014

Vera Lucille Hagadorn, aged 94, went to be with her Lord on Sunday, 23 March 2014 after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. Vera was born in Manitowoc, Wisconsin on 3 March 1920 to Sophie and Monroe Halverson, the 6th of 7 children. She left home in 1937, relocating first to Milwaukee and then to Detroit, Michigan to work in the US Engineer Office as a clerk-stenographer. While in Detroit, Vera met her roommate's brother-in-law, Clair Hagadorn, fell in love and, following a short courtship, they married on 2 June 1944.

Clair and Vera moved to the Battle Creek area in 1946, where they raised their family and were lifelong residents. In addition to her role as a mother, Vera was the secretary of Trinity Lutheran church for 20 years, retiring in 1984. Vera had many joys in her life, including making dried flower arrangements, traveling with Clair, and spending time with her grandchildren. She had a strong faith in Jesus Christ and strove throughout her life to live by her beliefs.

Vera was preceded in death by Clair after 53 years of marriage; her parents; and her six siblings. She is survived by her daughter, Sharon (Arthur) Cooper of Gambrills, MD; her son, Bruce Hagadorn of Ceresco; her daughter, Jeanne Hagadorn of Wright City, MO; ten grandchildren, Kim Faurot, Amy (Kenny) Campbell, Matthew Cooper, Daryl (Jessica) Cooper, Chandra Treat, Jessica Treat, Brett Hagadorn, Kyle Treat, Jeremy Hagadorn, and Elissa (Eric) Davis; 11 great-grandchildren, Joel Burwick, Dennis Balyeat, Brittany Faurot, Ryan Faurot, Nikohl Buntin, Kaylin Cooper, Trysten Cooper, Madison Cooper, Jayda Evans, Daryl "DJ" Cooper Jr., and Brooklin Cooper; and 2 great great-grandchildren, Storm Burwick and Ayden Broznowicz.

Visitation for family and friends will be held at the Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home in Battle Creek, Michigan on Friday from 4 pm to 7 pm. There will be a celebration of Vera's life at St. Peter's Lutheran Church at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 29, 2014; followed by interment at Floral Lawn Memorial Garden.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St. Peter's Lutheran Church, 1079 Riverside Dr., Battle Creek, MI 49015 or the Alzheimer's Association. Personal messages for the family may be placed here at www.farleyestesdowdle.com.
