Victor E. "Ed" Cowham

May 22, 1938 — January 24, 2023

Victor "Ed" Edward Cowham, 84, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on January 24, 2023. He was born May 22, 1938 in Battle Creek, MI and was the son of Victor Franklin and Iva Belle (Heckman) Cowham.

He married Shelby Jean (Ryan) on May 30, 1958. They were married for 62 years and shared 3 children together. She preceded him in death in 2020. Also preceding him in death were his parents, great-granddaughter McKenna Pearl Leach and brother Harvey Cowham.

Surviving are his daughters Cyndi (David) Wolfley of Chesterland, OH and Becky Donnell of Battle Creek; son Brian (Tami) Cowham of Battle Creek; ten grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers, Chuck (Loita) Cowham of Plainwell, MI and Jim (Dar) Cowham of Bellevue, MI.

Over the years he attended Calvary Baptist Church, Harper Creek Baptist Church, and Grace Fellowship Baptist Church. He had accepted Jesus Christ as his savior and in 2012 was baptized at Blue Lake in Climax, MI with his family and friends present. He was also a member of the Battle Creek Masonic Lodge.

When he was young his first job was a paper delivery boy. He then worked at the Battle Creek Sanitarium and Norman's Produce before serving the City of Battle Creek's Water Division and retiring in 1996 after 36 years of service.

He dearly loved his wife and entire family! He was always present and supportive of all their activities and endeavors. Grandpa and Papa Ed's house was always a fun place to go for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He had a powerful bond with his 3 brothers (and other men in the family) which included over 65 years of upper peninsula camping/deer hunting vacations and various fish outings. His many brother-in-laws nicknamed him "Fast Eddy" and truly admired him over the decades as one of their own, sharing various family get-togethers and trips.

He was also known as "Edvic" within his cherished cluster of close friends which included many activities, trips, cookouts and more which gave him and his wife countless love and laughter over the years.
