Viola "Vi" Marie Kellogg, 94¸ of Battle Creek, died at Bronson Battle Creek on Monday, May 23, 2016.
Vi was born in Springport Township on November 21, 1921 to Omar and Frances (Davidson) Bridenstine. Viola was raised on the family farm along with her four brothers where she attended a rural school and graduated with the class of 1940 at Springport High School.
After graduation, Vi moved to Jackson, where she worked until she married and moved back to Battle Creek. Her marriage to LaVerne Kellogg ended in 1965. She was employed at V.C Squires as a coiler and packer until they moved out of Battle Creek. For the next several years Viola worked as a home health aide and care giver for her mother.
Vi was a member of R.N.A. for fifty years and attended Trinity United Methodist. In her spare time she enjoyed reading novels, doing crossword puzzles and playing cards with her friends. Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune were her favorite TV programs. Most of all she enjoyed meeting, and spending time with people. Vi loved people.
Vi was preceded in death by her parents and four brothers, Arthur, Bernard, Marion and Albert Bridenstine. She is survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends, Connie Ovenshire and Mark Harris.
A graveside service will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at the Springport Cemetery in Springport Township, Michigan with Rev. David Dryer officiating. (Springport Cemetery is located on the east side of M-99 just south of the Village of Springport)
