Violet Christine (Fields) Irving, 74, of Westlake Assisted Health Campus in Commerce Charter Township and formerly of Battle Creek, Michigan died peacefully, with family at her side, on Thursday, May 4, 2023 at McLaren Oakland Hospital in Pontiac, MI.
 
Violet was born February 20, 1949 in Battle Creek, Michigan to Walter Timothy and Minnie Mary (Hall) Fields. Violet grew up in Battle Creek, attended Harper Creek High School and earned her GED later in life. She was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, sister, friend and homemaker.
 
Violet was formerly married to Raymond Irving. Surviving are their children, Robert Irving of Detroit, Raymond (Karen) Irving of St. Petersburg, FL, Timothy (Alyssa) Irving of Romulus, Sherry (John) Holbrook of Commerce Township; grandchildren,
Kimberly (Houston) Lemire, Timothy (Nicole) Irving, Austin (Nina) Irving, Faith Irving, Noreen (Dillon) Knapp, Nevaeh Holbrook, Shyla Holbrook, Miranda Holbrook, Sophie Holbrook, Hope Irving; 4 great-grandchildren; siblings, Yvonne Adkins, Mary Lou Cooksey, Doris Fairchild, Robert Fields and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and their families. Violet was preceded in death by her parents, Timothy and Mary Fields; brothers, Paul Fields, Mike Fields, David Fields, Ralph Fields, Preston Fields; and sisters, Janie Gray and Wilma Lindsey.
 
Violet was a member of Church of Christ in Garden City, where she attended with her family. She enjoyed crafting, cooking and sewing. Violet loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and all of her family. She was one of 12 children, so family encompassed a large part of her life. She also enjoyed playing Bingo, cards, and shooting pool.  Her favorite pastimes were spending time with family and playing cards. Violet loved animals and always made sure to carry treats for them. Violet was a giver. She would literally give her last dollar to a stranger in need. Violet will be remembered as friendly and lovable.
 
Friends will be received 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Thursday, May 11th and from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. Friday at Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Cremation Preneed Care, where a funeral service to celebrate Violet’s life will officiated by Church of Christ Minister Roger Woods 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 12, 2023. Interment will follow at Hicks Cemetery in Pennfield Township.
