Mrs. Virginia L. Davis, age 87, of Dowling, passed away on June 6, 2016. She was born in Battle Creek on April 3, 1929, to Milford E. and Lola (Garriott) Pratt. On September 17, 1949, she married Robert L. Davis at the First Congregational Church, United Church of Christ (where they both were members). Together, "Bob and Ginnie" treasured over 66 years of marriage (with the past 25 years as "snow birds" in Englewood, Florida).
Virginia graduated from Battle Creek Central High School. She then graduated from the Chicago Academy of Fine Arts in commercial art.
Virginia was a loving homemaker who selflessly and joy fully gave to her family. She was a fabulous cook (who specialized in experiments and creatively using left-overs), a skilled seamstress, and a talented artist. Throughout her life she enjoyed entertaining family and friends and playing bridge. Ginnie will be grievously missed by those who loved her.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by one son, Chuck (Sandy) Davis of Battle Creek, one daughter, Ellen (Steve Johnson) Davis of Cogan Station, Pennsylvania, one grandson, Matt Davis, one granddaughter, Maria Johnson Davis, and one great-grandson, Collin.
In keeping with Virginia's wishes, there will be no services. A private memorial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bronson at Home Hospice or a charity of your choice. Arrangements by Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care.
