Virginia M. Hill

With family at her side, Virginia M. Hill, 92, joined her late husband Harold W. Hill on Saturday, February 8, 2014. Virginia was born on Feb. 22, 1921 in Colon, MI to Louis J. and Lillian E. (Monroe) Seitz. She was a 1939 graduate of Union City High School. She married Harold on June 14, 1940, moving to Battle Creek. During WWII, she was employed at Eaton Corp., then A & P Tea Co., Oliver's, and retired from the Kellogg Company with 27 years of service. Her parents preceded her in death along with her brothers Robert and Darwin Seitz.
She is survived by a daughter Marilynn Miles, son Keith (Marty) Hill, grandchildren Vickie (Robert) Van Horn, Edward (Rachel) Miles and Michelle (Raymond) Kalisz. Her great-grandchildren include Barry and Grace Van Horn, Brittany and Alina Miles, Brendan, Colin and Erin Kalisz and step-granddaughters Tracey Milcarek and Maria Barrios.
Virginia enjoyed sewing, reading, traveling, crocheting and knitting. She knitted hundreds of hats for new born babies and faithfully wrote letters to family and friends. She was a member of the Kellogg 25 Year Club and the Grand Trunk Retirees. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, always putting her family first.
The family will receive friends 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., Monday, February 10, 2014 at the Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home where funeral services to celebrate Virginia's life will be held 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 11, 2014 with Pastor David L. Morton of Chapel Hill United Methodist Church, officiating. Entombment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
