Wanda Marie Tessmer, age 96, of Battle Creek passed away Wednesday afternoon, November 7, 2018. She was born in Fayette, Ohio on July 19, 1922 the daughter of Elgie and Elsie (Esterline) Robnolt. In 1935, Wanda's family moved to Albion, Michigan where she graduated from Albion High School (Washington Gardner) with the Class of 1940, and then furthered her education at Cleary Business College in Ypsilanti, Michigan.
Wanda married the "Love of Her Life", Richard Tessmer on October 30, 1941. They moved to Ann Arbor, Michigan for 5 years, where Wanda was employed at the Fred Burton Abstract Co. and Eberback Pharmaceutical Co. They moved to Battle Creek in 1948, where through the years, Wanda worked at United Steel & Wire Co., Security National Bank, and retired in 1983 as the Personnel Manager and Bank Officer at Comerica Bank.
Wanda was a member of the Maple United Methodist Church, and a former member of the National Association of Banking Women and the Alpha Phi Beta Sorority. She enjoyed her trips to Vegas, music & dancing, reading, and playing cards.
Wanda was sadly preceded in death by her husband, Richard O. Tessmer on April 12, 2000. She was also preceded in death by her parents, and her step-father, Joseph Nelson. Wanda is survived by her son, Richard D. (Angie) Tessmer of Indiana; her daughters, Christie (Joe) Farr and Debra (Dave) Meyer, both of Sherwood, Michigan; 9 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; her sister, Karen Kinzie and her brother, Gary Nelson.
Funeral services to celebrate Wanda's life will be held 11:00 a.m., Monday, November 12, 2018 at Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care where the family will receive friends 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens.
