Warren J. Moore of Cassopolis, MI and formerly of Battle Creek, MI
Warren, age 90, died Saturday evening, May 6, 2017 at Brentwood of Niles, MI.
Warren, the son of Jay Scott and Mae Viola (Prine) Moore, was born in Battle Creek on April 22, 1927, was a lifetime area resident and 1945 graduate of Battle Creek Central High School. He served his Country honorably and nobly in the United States Army as a Private during the Occupation of Japan following World War II and again during the Korean War. Warren retired in 1982 after 37 years of faithful service for Kellogg Company as the Supervisor of the Print Shop. He was the Past Commander of the former Dennis McKeen Post #558 and a Life Member of the American Legion Post #298. Warren was a member of the Kellogg 25 Year Club and the Cedar Creek Golf Club, as he was quite the accomplished golfer. He successfully ran a home business (Verona Printing and Lettering Service) for fifteen years and along with many other jobs, printed the weekly church bulletins for First United Methodist Church.
Warren was united in marriage to the former Catherine Louise "Cathy" Meeker in Battle Creek on August 13, 1955 and she sadly preceded him in death on September 11, 2012. Surviving are two daughters, Ann M. (David) Climer of Cassopolis, MI and Catherine J. Moore of Richmond, VA; his son, Frederick (Sharlene) Moore of Nashville, MI; six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Warren was also preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Dr. Richard D. Moore.
The Graveside Service to celebrate Warren and Cathy' lives will be held on Thursday, May 11th at 1:30 p.m. at Fort Custer National Cemetery, Augusta, MI with the Rev. Dr. James M. Gysel, officiating and the United States Army Honor Guard and the Fort Custer Honor Guard bestowing full military honors. Warren and Cathy's family will greet friends on Thursday from Noon until 1:00 p.m. at the Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, Battle Creek. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in their honor may be directed to the First United Methodist Church of Battle Creek, 111 E. Michigan Avenue, 49014.
