Wilberta F. "Bert" Wixson

Wilberta F. "Bert" Wixson, 81 of Battle Creek, died Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at Bronson Battle Creek. She was born in Celina, Ohio the daughter of Aubrey and Hazel (Kemerling) Disher. Wilberta was united in marriage on March 20, 1953 to Melvin "Gene" Wixson in Battle Creek. Sadly, he preceded her in death in 2003.

She was a homemaker and is survived by two daughters, Debbie Morey, Tracy Wixson; four sons, Jon (Sharon), Melvin (Sara), David and Todd (Jean) Wixson; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren; and a brother, Lloyd "Skip" Tubbs. She was also preceded in death by her parents; son-in-law, Gary; a sister, Betty and a brother, Sonny.

Wilberta and Gene together, worked Bingo and were active in Pennfield Athletic Booster, Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts in Pennfield Schools and at Dudley in Battle Creek; Indoor Floor Hockey, Boy Scouts, Concession Stand Pennfield Band Booster. Her love was playing bingo, cooking and her family.

A funeral service will be held 1:30 p.m. Monday, January 15th at Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, 105 Capital Ave. N.E., with Rev. James D. Sirks officiating. Interment will follow at West Pennfield, Hicks Cemetery. Visitation for Wilberta will be held 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 14th at the funeral home.
