William G. "Bill" Carley, 80, of Hickory Corners, died May 1, 2022 at home with his family by his side. Bill was born January 24, 1942 in Battle Creek to R. Dale and Winnie (Betts) Carley. He graduated high school and eventually received his electrician license. Bill proudly served his country honorably in the U.S. Navy, sailing on the U.S.S. Saratoga.
Bill married the former Bonnie Lackie on April 18, 1970, who survives. Bill is also survived by his children, Doug Carley, Greg Carley, Laura Chase, Stanely Carley and Threcia McCullough; 8 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; two brothers, Donald Carley and Leslie Carley, sister Patricia Carley and a dear family friend whom he thought of as his own child, Alan Kincaid. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Keith Carley, a brother, Richard Carley and a sister, Lou Amendt
Bill loved going Up North with Bonnie and family to their cabin. He especially liked spending time with their children and grandchildren. Bill spent a lot of time around the campfire. Laura would make him breakfast, and he would listen to Tigers games in the evening with Stanley. He also spent a lot of time fishing and hunting with his family
A memorial service to celebrate Bill's life will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, May 9, 2022 at Hickory Corners Bible Church. Interment, with full military honors, will follow at Day Cemetery.
