William V. "Bill" Dereski

William V. "Bill" Dereski, age 89, of Galesburg went to be with his Lord & Savior on Sunday evening, December 18, 2022. Bill was born in Aurora, Illinois on August 14, 1933 and faithfully served his country as a member of the United States Navy. He retired from Denso Manufacturing in 2001 and previously worked at Ralston and Nabisco.

Bill married the "Love of His Life", Donna M. Post in East Chicago, Indiana on October 2, 1954; she survives. He is also survived by his sons, William (Mary) Dereski of Davisburg, David (Frances) Dereski of Grand Blanc and Kenneth Dereski of Battle Creek; his daughter, Dawn (Dan) Smith of Bellevue; his grandchildren, Amy (Ryan) Saylor, Nicole (Joseph) Alef, Michelle (Joseph) Latham, Sarah (Richard) Tobias, Emily (Ben) Browning, Nicholas (Samantha) Dereski, Candice Dereski, Devin Dereski, Gabrielle Dereski, and Abigial Dereski; 15 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Jeannie. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, and his "favorite" sister, Theresa.

Bill was an active member of the St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Parchment, a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #9962, Kalamazoo and the Marshall Moose #676. A true family man, Bill loved spending time with his family, especially his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed working with his hands and could fix anything, especially if it was electronic. He also enjoyed riding horses, playing Chess, and wintering in Florida.

A private family service has been held. In lieu of flowers, please consider making donations to the St. Ambrose Catholic Church, 1628 East G. Avenue, Parchment, MI 49004. Arrangements by Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, Battle Creek.
