William N. Felter

William N. Felter, Jr., 76, a lifelong Battle Creek resident, died at his residence on Monday, July 22, 2013, after a long illness.

Bill was born December 22, 1936 in Battle Creek to William N. and Ethel L. (Thompson) Felter, Sr. He was a 1955 graduate of Battle Creek Central High School. Bill retired as a cable specialist from Michigan Bell Telephone in 1993, after 38 years.

Bill married Barbara A. Norris on July 17, 1955 in Battle Creek, Michigan. Barb preceded him in death on September 28, 2009. Surviving are two sons, Terry (Ronette) Felter and Doug (Sherri) Felter, both of Battle Creek; grandchildren, Tera (Joe) Wilson, Kelly (Eric) Kent, Jennie Hepler-Takens, William Felter, IV, Andrea (Jason) Krieg and Ashley (Jim) Felter; ten great-grandchildren; and a sister, Judy (Merv) Dosh of Iowa. In addition to his wife, Bill was also preceded in death by a son, William N. Felter, III; and two brothers, Jack and James Felter.

Bill enjoyed golfing, bowling, hunting, softball and fishing. He golfed in the Bell Golf League and bowled in the Eagle's Bowling League. Bill had a quick wit and great dry humor. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received 2:00-4:00 p.m. & 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday at the Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 26, 2013. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
