William C. Garratt, 95, of Battle Creek, died Sunday, May 20, 2018. William was born July 3, 1922 in Detroit to Harold and Alene (Heath) Garratt. William served honorably in the United States Navy during WWII. After his discharge from the military in 1947, William, along with his father, opened Garratt Office Machines in Battle Creek.
William was a member of the Antique Car Club and was a mechanical genius. He loved rebuilding old cars and even rebuilt cars for each of his children and grandchildren. He was a member of the Pennfield Exchange Club and bowled in the Good Fellowship League. William was an avid Detroit Tiger fan.
William is survived by his two children, Robert "Bob" Garratt and Susan Garratt-Vitale; five grandchildren and a brother, Don Garratt.
William was preceded in death by his wife, Elaine in 1991 and two brothers, Frank and John Garratt.
A memorial service to celebrate William's life will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, May 24, 2018 at the Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, officiated by Rev. Robert G. Muirhead.
