William Arthur "Bill" Kabel of Lawrence, MI
Bill, age 65, died unexpectedly Monday, May 5, 2014, at his residence.
Bill, the son of Earl Harold and Borgil Lillian (Knudson) Kabel, was born on April 12, 1949 in South Haven, MI; was 1967 graduate of Lawrence High School and was a lifetime area resident. He retired in 2001 due to health issues after more than 30 years of faithful service as the Boiler Plant Manager for Pharmacia Company (Upjohn's) in Kalamazoo, MI. Bill had been a member of the Ski Patrol and an avid skier at Timber Ridge Ski Resort of Gobles, MI. In addition to being an active fisherman and hunter, he also enjoyed playing a round of golf.
Surviving are his three sons, Richard G. (Angie) Kabel of San Marcos, CA, Michael P. Kabel of Plainwell, MI and Eric (Pamela) Kabel of Phoenix, AZ; two grandchildren (twins), Reed V. and Abigail V. Kabel of San Marcos, CA; two brothers, James (Melinda) Kabel of Des Moines, IA and Robert (Gail) Kabel of Coloma, MI and his former wife, Karina M. (Mateus) Kabel of Richland, MI. Bill was preceded in death by his parents.
The Memorial Service to celebrate Bill's life will be held on Saturday, August 2nd at 11:00 a.m. at the Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home, Richland Chapel, 9170 East D Avenue (M-89) with the Rev. Douglas Vardell, Chaplain at Bronson Methodist Hospital, Kalamazoo, officiating. A Memorial Gathering will immediately follow the Service at New Hope Church, 9333 East DE Avenue, Richland to continue Bill's life celebration with a time of fellowship and food. Final interment will be in Maple Hill Cemetery, Hartford, MI. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the charity of one's choice.
