William Lee "Bill" Phillips, 80, of Pennfield Township passed away on Tuesday, February 9, 2021.
He was born on April 30, 1940 in Battle Creek to Harold and Pearl (Adrian) Phillips. At age 17, he joined the Air National Guard, serving proudly for many years. He also worked as a computer engineer for Clark Equipment before retiring.
Bill loved to fly and was a licensed pilot and flight instructor. For a time, he ran his own business teaching others how to fly. He was a family oriented man and lived in the same house his whole life, right next door to other family members. He also attended the Indianapolis 500 every year and bought tickets for the same seats above the finish line for each race.
Bill is survived by his nieces, Cheryl Bouchard, Julie Wogoman, Jody Misner, Sandy Pitkins and Diana White; great-nephews, Jason Bouchard, Jeff Bouchard and Brandon Wogoman; a great-niece, Michelle Bourchard and any family not currently listed. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Pearl; a brother, Lee Phillips and a sister, Lue Marie Wogoman.
Due to current travel restrictions, a private graveside service will be held for Bill at Hicks Cemetery, and a memorial service will be held to celebrate his life at a later date.
