William E. "Bill" Stevenson

William E. "Bill" Stevenson, age 86, of Battle Creek passed away Sunday morning, November 29, 2020 at Bronson Battle Creek. He was born in Battle Creek on August 18, 1934, and was the son of Cecil and Sylva (Vick) Stevenson. Bill faithfully served his country as a decorated Marksman in the United States Army from 1960 – 1962. He worked as an automotive mechanic and later retired from Cello-Foil.

Bill married the "Love of His Life", Jan Peterson in Battle Creek on May 2, 1964. He is survived by his wife of more than 56 years, Jan; a son, Gary Stevenson of White Pigeon; four daughters, Lesa (Les) Rudloff of White Pigeon, Janice (Jim) Dahl of Amsterdam, Netherlands, Judy (David) Mahmat and Kathy Nye, both of Battle Creek; and several grandchildren & great-grandchildren. Bill was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Beverly Lang.

An avid NASCAR and car enthusiast, Bill enjoyed watching NASCAR and dirt track racing and spent many nights in the pits at Galesburg Speedway. He also enjoyed tinkering with cars, watching football & baseball, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren & great-grandchildren.

Due to current government regulations a private family service to celebrate Bill's life will be held Thursday afternoon, December 3, 2020.
